    Japan and Germany, actually most all other countries incl the UK do a financial/tax year by calendar not june 30th. It's their Half Year for financial planning, not so important as in Oz.
    Don't really know why Oz stuck with 30th june. We picked it up from UK roots but they moved to calendar decades ago and we stayed with it.
