All these GigaFactory Projects will want to source from a number of outlets OR from Distributors who do that.
Guaranteed Supply not only based on production capability [super pit] but to avoid some micro mine specific problems ie breakdowns etc.
It will also aid setting a Market Price avoiding a single supplier. For Lawds Sake, it is established that Jumbo is ground down into Fine and it's purity that rules so ergo purity parity between jumbo and fine is the determinant.

Also to Source from several avenues allows a "Quasi Spot Market" for Flake Graphite. The Tesla Lithium Off Takes apparently have fallen thru and the proposal now is, I'm told, that Tesla will source it's Lithium thru China "spot market". I have this info from a Siberian. Haven't checked it myself but can @ Siberia to provide the article if you doubt me.
So IMO Sojitz will be only possibly providing some spherical to Panasonic and others and it should be understood that Panasonic does NOT exclusively use spherical for Tesla but for hand held devices too.
There's just too much Piffle Pushing of Batteries and flaming Tesla!!
