Renewable pumping of seawater on tidal hydro systems would be interesting so on neap tides the renewables do most of work and when King tides etc occur the tidal action creates the majority of potential energy.

Deep mine shafts that go down to 1.5km or more below the surface could be flooded to create a thermal well. Pump cool air down and as it heats and rises capture the energy. Similar to a solar chimney.idwal closed circuit systems would be ideal as the energy/ material input is minimal. I understand that some group was look at sinking pipes in the ocean and using the thermal convection to generate energy. The energy production from deep wells would be cool. Pump water down a closed Shaft to 3km or so then capture the energy transfer. Much them same as geo thermal like in areas where magma is closer the surface like north island nz.

Symbiotic systems is where the future is, wind with wave and solar with wind or hydro with solar etc. the list goes on.
