The first sunspot from the cycle appeared in December 2016. Sunspot data as of March 2018 suggests that it may have started unusually early (in February 2018), although it is too early to say for certain.

Solar cycle 18 was the eighteenth solar cycle since 1755, when extensive recording of solar sunspot activity began.^[1]^[2] The solar cycle lasted 10.2 years, beginning in February 1944 and ending in April 1954.

74/7 = 10.62 yr Avg Solar Cycle
74/4 = 18.6 yr Lunar Nodal Cycle

I would be a woah moment if June/July 2018 was the Cycle 25 commencement .. even in the face of 2019 prognostications.

Strong solar cycles with high sunspot counts tend to be less than 11 years of duration.

And the inverse, weak solar cycles tend towards longer than 11 years duration.

Solar cycle 24 ending now has been the weakest for a century. So would expect it to drag out a lot longer than 11 years.

And most predictions for solar cycle 25 are another very weak solar cycle.

And a weak sun according to the Galactic Cosmic Ray theory of climate change tells us that it will be getting cold for a few decades.
