Agree
@Davisite - I’m not against development of equitable , really longterm
needed , gas developments , to capitalise on oil in selected reserves , or coal ( much of which is high grade coking , eg , NSW)
Longterm- I look forward to the day , when coal as energy fuel , is Done & Gone .
This is not yet reality .
Also technologies , development of best models are still in early years , & evolving still .
Energy requirements - mining of resources in harmony with local people , to exploit important reserves - still required .
(As long as it is not in conflict with other best , high land usage , or values of local communities of the land , important longterm conservation of resources . )
Pink batts were a furfey .
Solar panels - ultimately - were heavily subsided by Chinese provincial governments - loss leading even. Crazy !
I even support the US applying tariffs to Chinese solar panels .
( personally-I took up compelling offer -generous subsidies - over 6 years ago , installed good quality solar panels , & am self-sufficient. Thankyou to the Aust Govt . Lucky I could afford it then, pay it off, but at the time was a no-brainer. My , albeit subsidised solar power has paid for itself . But I’m sure it is possibly only best efficiency & design for the first 10years ? Will still be good for sometime )
This presentation is really entertaining, actually - FYI
I try not to get disillusioned by much that sounds good / can be termed ‘idealistic ‘ , vote- mongering ? , though at times can think plain dumb- unjustifiably onerous on Australian taxpayers.
People will make up their own minds and if hold strong devout opinions , can not change this without disrespecting them .
A certain amount of public and strong local public opinion - always will advance.
The more you try to explain , posture to campaign for ‘facts ‘.. the more people will resist . Equal and opposite force perhaps . And they’ll doubt you , whilst perhaps respecting the sincerity longerterm. But they’ll insist on their way.
At the time - many thinkers may Not like it , but the people do have their say . This is a democracy . The wheels take a long time to turn, and weakest yoke determines the rate of acceptance to science and change .
I am very much an original environmentalist and involved in early days Landcare movement .
It’s all trial and error in the end .
I’ll leave you be -
Worth taking the time to watch : enjoy your week ahead
