Renewable technology is at its infancy when compared to the century plus old fossil fuel industry. As with products that disrupt markets, they are first recognised by innovators, a minority that embrace the initial product and at times pay more for substantially inferior products but regardless soon realise the economic benefits. The market develops if those benefits are tangible. As an example, the domestic application of solar panels country wide.

It is too premature in the present stage of development to cap the capacity of battery technology. Currently it does more than " ... boil the kettle, keep the (small) fridge going until the sun comes up tomorrow... " . The merits or for that matter, the disadvantage offered, to be regognised, needs to be investigated without prejudice or malice.
