solar panel overload grid problems in nsw, page-5

One of the major problems seems to be the patchwork nature of the take-up.

The older suburbs with more retirees and homemaker wives, the take-up looks to be modest at best. In the mortgage belt with two income families and school kids there is a much greater take-up. This makes sense because with the house empty during the day they can export more and they need all the help they can get with the mortgage. Obviously there will be significant differences in voltage in the different areas that the distribution system is not designed to even out.

Driving the new motorway around town you can look over the roofs of a large suburb where it is clear that "free" solar was a selling feature for the new homes: They all have large systems. This would be one problem area I would assume.
