I'm the same as you ... I kept a daily tally for 2 years then went weekly.
Still do, it's a ritual.
I love the way solar saves me money when the sun shines.
During the wet season not so great but my annual power bill has dropped from $1400 to $120
Payback = 4 years.
Buy price - 24c/kwh
Sale price - 9c/kwh
Therefore we have organised the main usage, (hot water heating, pool pump, chest freezer, aircon etc), to run during max daylight hours.
As you say - clouds and wet have a big impact.
Still it's a no brainer for domestic users to go solar.
Can't see it working for reliable industry use though.
Maybe when battery storage becomes cheap as but ...
there will be such a demand for lithium - cars, homes, industry etc that the price will remain high for quite some time.
