    A couple of points:

re the glass facades: my understanding is that DYE is targetting the non-see through glass niche, which makes up about 40% (?) of the panels you see on these big high rises with glass curtain facades. And it will be for new glass only - not available at Super Auto as a do-it-yourself kit. :D

re Dave the yank: my oath he'd be buying US-based alternative energy plays - energy independence using alternative energy is one of the cornerstones of the Obama vision. See he has just annointed a Nobel winning physicist, Steven Chu, as his energy secretary. And what has Dr Chu been doing in recent years - specialising in alternative energies (including in energy efficiency in buildings!!!).

I say it again, if DYE and the Europeans don't get their fingers out they will lose their first mover advantage of the US being asleep under George W. The yanks are coming! the yanks are coming! As an aside, Wong is starting to smirk like Costello everytime she gives a Yes Minister answer as to why our lot have been sitting on their hands for the last 12 months :(

How long does the DYE stuff work for? Well Corus wants the sheeting to be effective for at least 20 years and all the accelerated testing that DYE has done shows that they can deliver that, just need to convince Corus now. I remember seeing a chart of how the DYE gunk works over an extended period and for the first few years it actually gets better than when first produced, and then over time there is a bit of a fade. But over the full period, from first use to last use, all the testing shows that the DYE products deliver consistently acceptable levels.

re comparing silicon's performance to dyesolar. My understanding is how they test silicon is they give it a short sharp burst of light and record the efficiency. But that test does not replicate natural light. Under more natural conditions and over a normal 24 hour period dyesolar delivers. It is the age old problem of poorly set up tests giving misleading results. (you should read about why Coca Cola tried to dump classic Coke and introduce New Coke - they carried out all their tests on people having a sip of old Coke, a sip of new Coke, and a sip of Pepsi. And because Pepsi and new Coke is more sugary than old coke people preferred a sip of new Coke over a sip of old Coke. But when sales of new Coke did not take off they started testing using whole cans of new Coke against old Coke. Turns out that people like a sip of really sugary softdrink but will drink the slightly less sugary old Coke by the can full). Same with silicon over dyesolar stuff: if you ask the right question then DYE wins.

    Cheers
