Solar versus Coal

Let's revisit the prices for solar power that were tendered at the end of last year.
The stand out is 5.98cents/kWh without any subsidies.

How does that compare to coal on a level playing field? One where all the coal subsidies are removed and the liabilities for the damage to the land and atmosphere are factored in? It's a no brainer, it's far cheaper and to continue to support such an industry in the face of these facts is quite simply criminal.

In Europe where fossil fuel is taxed for it's pollution, coal power costs twice that of wind power and wind power costs about 50% more than the above solar power.

Of course the cost of renewables continues to fall even further as does the cost of base load capacity.
