You are correct. They won't turn on in the winter because the roof temperature will be too low to trigger the thermostat. Also, the vents inside the house can be closed. I was told it definitely should work efficiently but they incorrectly installed a smaller unit than they should have. They told me that was all that was required but found out later that they were out of stock of the bigger unit and it took them 2 months to get it in. By then it was winter, and the unit could not be tested. Hence my problem with this. They have installed the night kit to see if that can help. Double storey townhouse facing west, big big challenge....
