The technology for high efficiency solar cells for CPV has now been leased by Translucent (owned by Silex) to IQE a UK firm who I believe are not far from releasing these High efficiency cells which will also be a great deal cheaper than what is on the market now because they will be using SOI and virtual Silicon and also virtual Germanium and some other rare earth stuff on it as well.
Silex sold off all of the assets from Solar Systems, I am hoping they kept the IP because that type of installation (Parabolic Dish concentrated to the solar cells) would be an ideal partner with these new cells that are coming, I do note that Solar Junction are in dispute over some IP but I think the Translucent IP will help with that? Solar Junction was started by an ex Translucent employee and when he left so did some of the IP I believe, anyway what IQE will be using is Translucent IP which I believe is superior and cheaper.
