A MYSTERY buyer yesterday took a multi-million-dollar interest in troubled sports goods group Globe International.
Renewed interest in the skateboard empire, which makes clothing and skating hardware, pushed its shares up 23.9 per cent to 28.5, a 5.5 lift in yesterday's trading.
Market watchers were unable to shed light on the buyer last night - despite speculation that Solomon Lew and Richard Pratt were keen to snare the group.
But sources also suggest Globe founders, Peter and Stephen Hill, might also be equally interested in privatising the group.
All clues point to the bid coming from the Lew camp which could offer a new and much firmer base from which to revive Globe's off-shore operations. "
