The whole of the east coast can now be patrolled by Chinese ships and aircraft with the Great Barrier Reef vulnerable to exploitation that we can do little about.

I feel for the people of the Solomon Islands for their future as they are crushed and their resources exploited but we are the reason China is taking over those Islands. In one move they established military facilities right on our doorstep and to the most heavily populated region too.

Even worse, we knew it was happening and did nothing to stop it.

Sogavare (Solomons PM) is either extremely naive or blinded by greed. There would have been bribes from Beizing, and weak-minded fools will salivate at that prospect Sogavare doesn't even realize that they plan to replace him when the time is right.
