If all government subsidies are removed this would put downward pressure on prices forcing landlords to sell their investment properties to renters,
so, there is a reduction in the need for rental accommodation.
The owning a house offers stability, permanence, and security, which every person is entitled to.
With interest rates now going up & look like staying elevated for years, landlords are looking for tenants to pay more rent, not once did I hear about rents going down with interest rate falling from 1990 to 2020.
If you own a residential investment property well you rolled the dice, don't come looking for the tenant or the government to bail you out.
There are other investments that pay a much better return than residential property
