My wife (63 - the last cohort of the Baby Boomers) was actually born and raised in a house with no floor, BB . The reality was, all 3 cohorts of the Baby Boomer generation did it tough on varying levels. Generally speaking, it wasn't until their late teens that the Baby Boomers walked into an alignment of beneficial stars - good jobs, cheap rent, cheap food, cheap real estate, flower power , no Aids, free love due to the pill, exotic cheroots - Nirvana at its best, if you were fortunate enough to escape the draft and the Vietnam war.
That said, the Baby Boomers arrived at that rare place in history armed with an unbending, uncompromising work ethic borne from our war hardened parents. Often as not they (the Baby Boomers) worked two jobs; sometimes to fund an education, given one still had to pay rent and food to survive - and there was no such thing as HEX loans or loan friendly parents.
And look what they built, look what they invented, look how the Country prospered - . until now?????????????
Did the Baby Boomer political class do some bad sheet along the way? - well hell yeah! But it is good to remember that the political class of the Baby Boomers back then were almost all drawn from wealth and privilege and are in no way indicative of the other %99.9 of Baby Boomers.
We worked hard and played hard and some of us were lucky - and we will hear much the same from generations already here and to come. Author unknown.
