We don't want or need this sort of govt program. Just ask solar panel installers how enjoyable it is being the recipient of govt spending.
What we want for the Tata and Dyesol to get on with it and develop a world class industrial product that can be sold for decades as an upsell to traditional steel cladding at or near grid parity pricing.
If they just realise their promise, then the product will sell itself in far larger quantities and more sustainably than any misguided govt program could manage.
Anything in the DYE story other than Tata building a steel mill and rolling off production quantities is noise. Even this pilkington glass deal is noise, that is building an industrial template to allow someone else to make the glass, there is no retail product at the end of that project, no revenue until someone decides to pick up the template and run with it.
