Soma of course is the name of the recreational drug used in Aldous Huxley’s 1931 novel Brave New World. In BNW Soma is the recreational ‘drug of choice’. It is a pleasant hallucinogenic which is also to suppress ‘unwelcome’ emotions. It has no negative side effects. People who take enough of it can a lot of it and go on a ‘Soma holiday’. Sound good to me!!

According to BNO, BNC210 has the potential to significantly improve the lives of anxiety sufferers by reducing their anxieties without causing; sedation, withdrawal syndromes or impairing memory. It is also fast acting, does not interact with other drugs and you only need to take a ‘dose’ once a day. My wondering is; given that BNC210 appears to interact with brain function, does it by any chance cause hallucinations and if it does are they pleasant hallucinations? Becasue if it does, it sounds like they may have created a modern real-life version of Huxley’s Soma.

If BNC210 turns out to be what I hope it could be, as much as it would become a huge competitor to Valium and Prozac and be used to treat people who are suffering severe anxiety, it could also become an even bigger recreational drug of choice, just like Huxley's Soma.
