Commander wins Symantec Deal of the Year and awarded VMware’s Asia Pacific Market Maker of the Year
Dual accolades top off winning streak for Commander with total of five major partner awards
22 September 2007 - Commander Communications Limited (ASX: CDR) has received peer recognition with two major industry awards, winning the prestigious VMware’s Asia Pacific Market Maker of the Year Award and Symantec’s Deal of the Year Award last week. Commander was also named runner-up to Symantec’s Partner of the Year award at the Symantec Vision Awards ceremony.
The awards cap off a winning streak for Commander who this month has also won three major industry accolades from vendor partners Cisco, Microsoft and SurfControl.
“Winning one major industry award is exciting. Winning five proves a point,” said Steve Evans, Commander’s Group General Manager of Enterprise. “It’s an enormous compliment to our people that their commitment, talent and high standard of work are being recognised by our partners in industry.”
The VMware award, presented to Commander at the annual VMworld Conference in San Francisco, recognises Commander’s performance over the past year as the company became one of VMware’s leading resellers of virtualisation solutions.
“Commander has demonstrated a strong commitment to enabling Australian companies to realise the benefits of virtualisation. Commander’s technical ability, combined with strong sales and customer service, are behind our decision to award them VMware’s Market Maker of the Year for the region,” said David Blackman, Channels Sales Director, VMware Australia and New Zealand.
The Symantec Deal of the Year award, announced at the Symantec Partner Awards ceremony, recognises Commander’s work with the University of Melbourne’s Information Services to implement a robust email archiving and mail security solution.
“As the runner-up to our Partner of the Year award, the work Commander carried out in partnership with Symantec at the University of Melbourne exemplifies the company’s commitment to push the boundaries of what is possible when it comes to best-quality service delivery,” said David Dzienciol, Director, Partner Sales, Symantec Australia and New Zealand.
The other industry awards Commander has won this month are:
• Surfcontrol Partner of the Year Award: The Surfcontrol award, announced 5 September, recognises Commander’s role in doubling SurfControl’s business in South Australia and Queensland over 2006-2007, achieving 102 per cent growth nationally and contributing to SurfControl’s strong year-on-year performance across the Asia Pacific region.
• Microsoft Partner of the Year Award – Information Worker: The Microsoft award of 31 August acknowledges Commander’s development of an automated system for the aged care sector. Based on Microsoft’s Office SharePoint Server 2007, the system automates and streamlines administration tasks to give aged care workers more time with patients.
• Cisco Partner Award – ACT: Cisco recognised Commander’s Volante Managed Services team on 21 August for excellence in service delivery, and the considerable effort Volante applies to each project
