    Here is a zoom in to the period of time known as "The Pause".... this is a period where the long term trend for warming took a 17 year holiday.

    As I explained earlier, during this period vast amounts of CO2 were added to the atmosphere yet the rate of change of temperature reduced to a paltry 0.0012 degrees C per year. This equates to 0.12 degrees C per century. None of the models predicted that the rate of warming was going to flatten out like this over this period, indeed the politics said drastic action is required to limit the warming in the 21st century to less than 2 degrees C so 0.12 degrees per century was indeed unexpected and not cooperating with the political narrative.

    The pause ended with the advent of the 2016 el-nino and the formation of a northern pacific warm blob.

    Some small period of cooling after el-nino finished but it was not long enough to form a climate trend
