Would the increasing number of socialist vegans switch back to meat and eat people though - exploiting a different type of sentient being?
Veganism increases fertiliser and pesticide run-off into the oceans from crops needed to feed their growing numbers.
Apparently warming and drop in oxygen of some parts of the tropical oceans is primarily due to the damage done by crop chemicals and fertiliser.
Cows can eat most plant matter thanks to their ruminant capabilities - even spinifex, no need to go and fertilise coastal paddocks close to human population centres to support beef production - it can be done in the semi-arid interior and eliminate much of the runoff.
Perhaps vegans should switch back to beef to save the oceans?
