Same reason as probably why people use AirBnB over hotels? And yes cost must be a factor in this case or as you pointed out variety considering Apollo might offer few varieties of Vans but clamlify can offer more just like AirBnB can offer wide variety of properties.
plus varying cost based on what Van owner is willing to rent it out for compared to Apolllo and others who has to do it at fixed price due to them owning vans plus cleaning charges lower occupancy/rental rates with interest baring loans if they own vans. When not rented need spaces throughout major centres to park vans in secure locations etc where as clamlify doesn't have those kind of operating cost. A cabin in caravan park cost nearly 150 to 200 in off season more In peak season so van has to be cheaper (my guess) otherwise why not just hire a cabin unless most days you just don't want to use cabin and just use Van
