Remember folks, there are no margin calls on residential property. At the median price of circa $1mill, a drop in value of 5% has no bearing on mortgage payments.
Ultimately, when it comes to the stats we are provided, they are skewed because they don't take in to account purchases made years ago that have yet to settle or people who have flipped properties before settlement etc.
Never forget, aussies love property and news outlets know this and therefore report on property as often as they can.
