MLX -some hot air about. There has been a good degree of frustration with this one which I have held for a long time via Bluestone. A lot of that caused by slow acting Tas govt, whose motto must be "Why procrastinate tomorrow when you can do it today?"
Consider that last time I looked, Brierley/Guinness Peat was on the register in a substantial way. That is a very good signal to me.
Regarding the deposit, it is an elephant, and on the surface, with very little overburden to be shifted to get at it. A straight opencut proposition. It is nickel limonite, which they think they can process OK, anyone know with any competence more about this? Then there is the new Beadell deposit right next door which promises to be similar in size so far. It is coming up at about 25% richer again grade wise but little overburden either. There is apparently enough artesian water in range from the huge underground aquifer edging this region. Regarding distance- yeah, but hey this is Australia. Fly in fly out operation probably. If the technical aspects work out this could be Australia's Olympic dam of nickel. When we talk about millions of tons and $20,000 tons up per ton, thats a humungous amount of gross dollars in there. No wonder the Chinese want in. From my study one of the biggest costs in nickel processing is the large amounts of acid needed and the high costs of it. They have found a good deposit of the raw material nearby and think they can make their own. This could be very important plus in developing a good profit margin. I doubt any metallurgists bother with this chart jockey site but is anyone out there? Gets very hot in summer out there, but everyone is driving around in airconditioned cabs these days, and they are closer to Coopers brewery than some. Sunsets can be awesome. Even the odd good looking camel. With nickel at $25,000 a ton a B double can haul about a million bucks worth a trip down to Esperance or somewhere, and bring supplies back. We are not talking iron ore here. This is premium metal. So is tin, these days. C'mon some of you Oz cobars, dont be scared of your own country. I might hop in my old heap and go out for a look soon.
