We can't get enough people to work, have come off a building boom in most states, these will be soaked up by APPRECIATIVE and PROACTIVE MIGRANTS AND THEN IT WILL BE ON FOR ONE AND ALL. When there is a building boom - what happens kiddies is that the ones building rent, you see they have to live somewhere, then what happens kiddies is that all these houses come up for completion at once, and then children they move to their new homes and there is a surplus for a little while, and then all those virtuous , wholesome folk from all over the world who like to work, don't whinge and have money come here and buy up and suddenly we will have a shortage again - here endeth another lesson!
Milesg - don't bother beating your chest about Balga - possibly one of the VERY worst suburbs in Perth - nothing to recommend it - hardly location, location , and not worthy of mention. Your mate sold at the top, good luck to him, wish it was you, but the truth is it IS NOT representative of Perth. The ghetto of WA that caught the boom tsunami by default and is back where it should be - even so still went up well despite its grotty self.
