    I have read your post twice, no idea what you are trying to say?

    Are you trying to tell me that only the top end of the population who earn high salarys, say the top 20% will be able to live in Melbourne/Sydney etc.

    remember 30% of the population earn less than half the median wage.

    your post still doesnt answer my question, if only the top 20% buy house's and the bottom 80% rent, then the top 20% need to carry 5x more debt again to buy these houses.. which they cant afford.

    how does your post attempt to answer the question?
