Some interesting posts. Very good post by DJ.
Yes ... We are not talking about surface flows of water down to the ocean. The Damaran Orageny occured BEFORE the oceans as we know it were there, and while the earth's crust was still forming. The magma "flows" were not fast liquid flows as DJ mentioned, some geological reports use the word "migration", and "Mobile Belt" instead. But every geological report you read will tell you that the "trend" of the "flow", or "migration", was North by North West, up the Damaran Belt through Central Africa as we know it.
Even as magma solidified, it would have been "pushed" along the channel by constant volcanic activity in the rear. We need to also remember that this occured over milleniums, with new volcanic activity creating different "formations" and channels on top of the original Damaran basement. Each of these Damaran "formations" occured at different times, have different geological features, and carry different names: the Rosssing Formation, Khan Formation, Etusis Formation, Nosib Formation, Kuiseb Formation, Chuos Formation, and Swakop Formation.
These formations overlay & intertwine each other as they formed over different periods. The Khan & Rossing Formations contain most of the primary uranium in the Belt.
I think the magnetite-hosted uranium recently discovered by DYL would have everyone talking, as this is the first of its find in Namibia, and also is the first non-alaskite hosted uranium in the region so far.
Namibia is a uranium Mecca, and a bunch of smart Aussie companies own the pick of the land. This is the place to be!!
