Thanks, a couple of good academic research synopses. I like reading the odd scientific paper here and there whilst lounging in the armchair by the fire now and then too....whilst the world just goes on by.
Although I have to say I could not find anything substantive to Novaphos Inc. or its predecessor JDCPhosphate or even its founder Dr. Joseph Megy given the article was published in 2018 and JDCPhosphate was started by the good Dr. in 2008 other than this comment in the Introduction "On the level of radical process and product innovation, JDC Phosphate addresses issues of reducing contamination and using low-grade ore. Such measures are examples of how innovations can contribute to a more sustainable use of finite raw materials." The section on IHP makes neither reference nor acknowledges JDCPhosphate in any form but talks about the technology as developed in the late 1970's and early 1980's from the basic kiln process developed in the 1950's. Not so novel or unique after all it appears.
But here is something that might be considered novel to the jetsetters of the forum chat world. If you really want to pursue the circular nature of phosphate then stay organic and by the way gas treating raw phosphate renders it inorganic. There is a little ASX listed company doing exactly this albeit not in Australia but Canada and the hotrodder poster knows who it is, Fertoz Limited (ASX: FTZ). Mind you he seems more focused on trying to bull charge the lostagain guy as he appears to have got his panties in a twist about that guy. A deep group therapy session may be needed to unwind that.
Somewhere in the preceding paragraph is a good opportunity for AEV, for those with a smart nose and a good eye on realistic opportunities will see it the rest will complain or counter it. Secondly there is a domestic business or two that offers products to the eastern seaboard of Australia that produces a different kind of organic phosphate fertilizer that supports a circular use for phosphate. All of these are organically certified hence the opportunity to derive further earnings from other sources as a result.
Here is one just to expand the mind a little...Phoslock Limited (ASX: PET) is a train wreck in mid-flight but its underlying technology is simple and clever and was developed by the CSIRO. It renders phosphorous build-up in water bodies harmless where run-off from excessive use of various inorganic phosphate based fertilizers has been used albeit amongst other poor farming and forestry practises. There is the potential to re-use the captured phosphate with one of the Phoslock products. Talk about a better circle of use if ever their was one given phosphate is essentially a finite fossil fuel.
So really the two reports hold little benefit or relevance to shareholders of a company slowly shrinking to nothingness in abject silence. Are they fake? I don't think so but they lack relevance.
Try as I may but when I look at it through a benefit - opportunity - risk perspective it actually falls in the risk space. Novaphos Inc. has taken the opportunity it would seem, the scientific world sees the broad approach as beneficial to the planet and society at large and will debate it endlessly through white papers, discussions and conference presentations until the end of days for mankind and AEV carries the risk.
Here is why - (1) Novaphos Inc. (exJDCPhospate which held some sort of exclusive arrangement with AEV) has started a commercial process for IHP and locked AEV in to its commercial use, thereby denying AEV to consider alternatives unless there is exit clauses in the agreement and yet they have delivered nothing to AEV to date leaving AEV stranded on that option. (2) By nature of the scientific world debating its merit and there being no existence of a patent or a trademark the process is considered generic and free for adoption by any party. Akin to a recipe for a delicious cake, everyone knows it, everyone uses it, non-one owns it and yet there are many different variations to the same recipe.
But an interesting read nevertheless. Thanks for the link as I discovered I had the documents already from back when I was researching something called Chatham Rise Project.
