you have to understand, if so many people are struggling, and they see things like special grants, uni places and housing assistance (above what a non indig can get) being given to aboriginals and not them, of course there is going to be resentment, or a feeling of it being unjust.
i used to work with a bloke who was adamant you should always tick yes to "do you identify as ATSI", and his reasoning was this: the tick box is there to make sure a quota of applicants are ATSI, nobody can dispute your cliam, and of that tick gets you to an interview, then you can get the job on kerot (as usually recruiting and the intervierers in our field are removed). essentially ticking yes can get you in the door for no reason pther than quotas
anyway racism exists everywhere and isnt just whites doing wrong in Australia (speaking as the only white guy in a west African village for a few months per year)
