Read announcement again, it clearly states as a conditon of the sale that State Agreement has to be novated to Mitsubishi, as the meeting is in Feb novating an agreement already expired is pointless, you have to read between the lines that an extension is part of the novation and Barnett was sounded out before the deal was finalised.

Let me put it another way would Mitsubishi agree to pay such a sum if the agreement expired prior to them being able to take over 100%, no way.

As I mentioned in previous posts it will be a face saving exercise for Barnett by saying good deal and willing to extend as can now see OPR being developed and now China Inc can be dealt in blah blah blah!
