There are other risks that spring to mind:
1) a sudden ice age
2) 3 mile hill mill flattened by meteorite
3) Nasa discover that the moon is not made of cheese, but is a huge gold nugget, and helicopter ben is printing money to finance its imminent retrieval
4) instead of dreaming about resource super taxes, our government nationalises all mining
5) gold goes out of fashion in Asia and the Middle East
these are not ranked in order of seriousness, that is up to the readed.
