re: this months conference in us We are pleased to invite you to attend ATS 2006 • San Diego, the International Conference of the American Thoracic Society. The ATS meeting is one of the largest gatherings of Pulmonary and Critical Care clinicians and researchers in the world. Last year’s conference in San Diego was attended by over 16,000 people from 90 countries, and we expect this year’s meeting in San Diego to be even more exciting and diverse. The conference program will offer information on the latest and most significant developments in clinical practice, in research (clinical, basic, and translational), in health advocacy, and in education.

ATS 2006 • San Diego will include topics such as asthma, environmental and occupational health, sleep apnea, mechanical ventilation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, acute respiratory distress syndrome, genetics, tobacco control, lung cancer, pulmonary infections and tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, lung transplantation, and pediatric lung disease. The Clinical Year in Review, Clinical Topics in Pulmonary Medicine, and the Critical Care Track offer focused, in depth education. Scientific and translational sessions will examine signaling in lung cells, lung matrix regulation, lung remodeling, and gene expression. The ATS presents a thriving, interactive venue for the presentation of original research, and last year 5,200 scientific abstracts were presented at the Conference. A major strength of our International Conference is the ability of clinicians and researchers to interact and to exchange ideas.
