Been following IINET for some time now and i have a few thoughts.

VOIP - I don't think this is going to take off until we have a mainstream platform that works exactly like a mobile phone. I don't doubt there is a market for VOIP at the current time but it's a very small one and it isn't in demand. I can't see it growing much at all.

I base this on my own experiences and those of my friends and others in my age (25) bracket who take up technology alot faster compared to those much older the us.

We know what VOIP is but we just don't need it and because we don't use a land line for phone calls we use a mobile phone.

Sometimes it isn't even about cost - A mobile phone is as much a fashion statement as it is a phone. A VOIP phone is not stylish.

Second of all - Noone knows what VOIP is. I use to work at Bigpond (even though they don't have VOIP services) and a friend who still works there can verify that we never get questions from customers regarding VOIP - AT ALL.

Instead of targetting VOIP for the home market i really think they should be focused on businesses.

I have an 8mbit line with 40 gig of downloads, 24" monitor, latest PC, latest mobile phone. Not interested in VOIP. Neither is anyone else for the most part.

Second of all - ADSL 2. IINET has spent a considerable amount of money installing DSLAMS around the nation but may not see a return on them due to OPEL being available to a large majority of the nation when/if it launches.

You can see planned coverage for OPEL here - http://www.broadbandnow.gov.au/opel-map.htm

Other then that i think their advertising campaign has been a great success but understand broadband and what i am getting i cannot say i would ever be a customer of IINET at the current time or near future due to low data quotes and ever increasing demand for content delivered via online services from people such as myself.
