but would 6 months in a bunker achieve anything worthwhile?

to start with the Vit D deficit would leave the bones less able to sustain hard living on the outside. next comes the utter shock at the devastation of the world as we knew it, the lack of functional infrastructure, the survivors sick and moribund, the hardship of returning to a hunter/gatherer lifestyle with animals and plants already sickened from fall out. and of course the final insult to humanity, the desperation of survivors to continue surviving which would inspire paranoia of any who aren't familiar and trusted, the enmity against any others who might pose a threat either through direct assault and theft of what we have remaining of our former lives and the competition for what food remains available.

but within a couple of generations a new culture of survivors would develop. there've been a plethora of inventive stories on the post-apocalyptic era, one of my fave writes was by Piers Anthony who wrote of a warrior culture regulated by primitive rules of engagement. quite graphic and a credible invention. such a world might benefit from 9-ply dunny paper
