The most basic 'desktop' due diligence they can do is read AUDITED Financial Statements for the last couple of years to have a look at what Professional Independent Auditors have reported to the Company's Stakeholders as being a True and Fair reflection of the Company from a financial position.
Thus the Accounts may be 'old news' to you but it will be the one thing every single one of the parties entering into negotiations will have read.
They will then no doubt want to do physical inspection of assets and get their experts to look at technical/metallurgical reports into the quality of resources etc but the simplest starting point is always the Accounts.
