Perth's Taj Mahal up for grabs

The Oswals will sell their controversial mansion, known as the Taj-Mahal-on-the-Swan, if they get the right price.

It raises speculation the family will leave Perth following the appointment of receivers to their fertiliser plant.

Chris Codrington, spokesman for Pankaj and Radhika Oswal, said the family was in talks with real estate agents after several people expressed interest in the Peppermint Grove property.

Mr Codrington said the Oswals were not "broke" and were not being forced to sell after the $700 million Burrup fertiliser plant went into receivership this month.

Burrup Holdings, the parent company of Burrup Fertilisers, is 65 per cent owned by the Oswal family but they also have other business interests, such as the Otarian restaurant chain.

Mr Codrington said that the couple were considering selling the home because the money could "come in handy in the current circumstances".

He said Mrs Oswal would not comment on rumours of a $40 million price tag.

    etc, etc, etc,...
