Your arguments carry weight I think, and thank you, but threats that don't materialise don't matter.

I thought in 2005 that rising debt would have produced a global crisis by 2008. Not just to the brink, but right over the edge. The situation seemed so unbalanced and fragile. Yet here we are in 2013, and somehow or other the debts are still being accumulated, no-one even talks about the derivatives menace anymore, and the defrauded retired and disabled haven't stormed Capitol hill with pitchforks. No-one's audited Fort Knox, algorithmic trading is as prevalent as ever, peak oil seems as cheap as any other kind, Iran hasn't been attacked, and the warmed atmosphere is nicely balmy.

I mean, who'da thunk it?

The world has an uncanny talent for defying the odds. It doesn't stack up as a good planet to short.
