I strongly agree, whilst I accept your concern @parcs - I don't believe your comparison with narrow vein gold is applicable at all. Purely on an economic perspective, a small volume of sri lankan vein graphite can be a very significant resource, due to the high mass >95% C content of the vein. In comparison, you need many many more tonnes of material and therefore a JORC resource to identify an economic (mineable) narrow vein gold, where mass may be as low as 5 gpt. In Addition, 20-25 Kg of flake graphite - can be surrounded by up to 200 kg of host rock (FGR) ! Whereas again the almost completely massive nature of the vein graphite means that stripping ratios are extremely low.
As it has previously announced, the company has identified economic quantities of graphite, which support CAPEX and OPEX on mining alone, the procedure of planning, ops, DHTEM, and localised shafting to follow fractures is concordant with the unique nature of Sri Lankan vein graphite. Geologically, these fractures are often very repeatable and Sri Lankan miners have unique knowledge of how to follow seams.
Not only does the strategy de-risk the project - it will also create a significantly faster turnaround time at less cost. Whilst I hear some of you laughing, I am very confident that FGR will soon start to gather a strong production flow on at their mining operations.
Having seen the backward state of allot of mining ops in Sri Lanka, I admire FGR for the strong safety minded and methodical stance they are taking. This is truly a unique story and they have done all the right things in terms of positioning...
Whilst I don't know allot about the tech side of FGR it is really the mining and the strategic tenement position which gives me allot of confidence in the sustainability of this company - in the long term.
As Sri Lankan vein becomes scarcer and scarer, FGR will be sitting pretty and will have the networks within industry and government to expand, based on their performance in the coming years.
