The perceived weakness in FXL is being played against the perceived strength of APT (and Z1P). I would imagine SP moves with all three stocks have the same players at their root. There are short term gains to be made, and long term games to be played. The direction the prices take will depend upon the relative strength of the share price and associated market support at any particular time … at the moment it is easiest to play FXL (no market darling).
Push the price up early with some smallish buys, then sell into any resulting demand with the shorts. Over 5 million shorts have been booked over the last three weeks.
