Hey BB fully agree. I recently had a suitable job alert came via Linkedin, It was for an indigenous housing Organisation, that were after a Facility Manager to oversee maintenance and construction of their assets. I was ticking off all the criteria that I met, Trade qualifications, Tick, Project management qualifications, Tick, Experience in managing teams, Tick, as a self employed contractor then 12 years experience as a Facilities manager for a private Hospital. The salary was $180-$190k, it was in an area that was suitable to me. Then the fine print at the bottom, that consideration would be given to ATSI applicants with lesser qualifications.
So they would employ someone that wasn't the best qualified for the position.
I was only browsing through the jobs and had no real interest, but things like this need to change. We will never see value for our Tax dollars when we are filling key positions based on meeting quotas.
