On November 9, Sinopec, Chemical Engineering Office of Sinopec science and Technology Department’s link-up review meeting for application and approval of the project “technology development for comprehensive utilization of gasification feedstock and by-products” was held at SNEC. More than 20 experts from Chemical Engineering Office of the headquarter, Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, Sinopec Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology, QPEC Research Institute, Nanjing Chemical Research Institute, Yangzi Petrochemical Company, the Northwest Research Institute of nonferrous metals and SNEC. The deputy general manager Kang Wanzhong attended the meeting.

The link-up review meeting was hosted by Chemical Engineering Office of Sinopec science and Technology Department, in which the chief expert of SNEC Guo Wenyuan introduced the overall situation of the project application for approval and the responsible units of the 12 sub-projects reported to the background significance, research objectives and contents, technical routes and innovation points and application prospects and replied questions proposed by the evaluation experts.

The project “technology development for comprehensive utilization of gasification feedstock and by-products” is one of the key development projects of science and technology department in 2017. It carries out first pilot project director responsibility system and Ningbo Institute of technology is the director unit leading and taking charge of the project. The project is to optimize the independently developed coal gasification series technologies, to promote the technologies for low rank coal classification utilization and coal gasification by-products comprehensive utilization, to realize energy saving, and to further enhance the core competitiveness of the unit.

Could this "technology development for comprehensive utilization of gasification feedstock and by-products" be referring to NCF's technology? If so, quite an endorsement that they have referred to it as "one of the key development projects of the science and technology department in 2017".

Coal-to-liquid (CTL) plants convert coal into synthetic fuels or other chemicals

Both processes use coal gasification technologies to gasify with the aid of oxygen to produce syngas, which it then transforms into fuels or other chemicals.
