Thought I'd share something with fellow CNN holders that I found quite interesting.
I use an organic shampoo and as it turns out, the bottle is bio-degradable and made from plant based materials.
The name of the bioplastic product is Ingeo, and is produced by a company called NatureWorks LLC based in Minnesota USA.
NatureWorks LLC is owned by Cargill, Inc, America's largest privately held company, also based in Minnesota.
These names never featured in Cardia's investor presentation slides for obvious reasons, because they're privately held.
But the point is, there are other competitors out there, and they're BIG. But on the flip side, big players equals big market.
If anyone is interested in some light reading, this is the site of NatureWorks LLC:
http://www.natureworksllc.com/
This is the heading of their most recent press release on 12/10/11:
"NatureWorks attracts $150 million equity investment from leading Thailand company PTT Chemical."
Hang on to your hats fellas, it's going to be an interesting ride.
