    More dire predictions? Gold bugs alway promise "coming" disasters that never happen.

    Your proposition is that the price of oil will fall sending all the shale companies broke which in turn will collapse the US banking system making investing in expensive gold coins and ingots look like a good idea?

    There are some reasonable doubts about this scenario:
    - Industry sources are saying that US shales survives down to $30 a barrel.
    - US shales runs quite a high equity component in their capital structures.
    - US banks don't own that much shale debt.
    - US banks are massively over capitalised.

    I am not losing sleep over falling oil prices. If anything, they lower costs, improve broad US economic performance and are likely to strengthen the general credit quality of bank lending.

    Its about time to predict a Greece default triggering global systemic banking collapse again. You haven't played that card for a while.
