SKK Migas chief arrested
for alleged bribery ..Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators arrested Upstream Oil and Gas regulatory special task force (SKK Migas) head Rudi Rubiandini at his house on Jl. Brawijaya, South Jakarta, on Tuesday night for allegedly accepting bribes totaling U$700,000 on two separate occasions from a foreign company.
“We have apprehended three people, identified as R, S and E. The last two are from a private company,” KPK spokesman Johan Budi SP said late Tuesday, tempo.co reported.
KPK investigators also brought in Rudi’s driver for questioning and confiscated a luxury motorbike, a black bag and a stack of documents.
Rudi is currently being questioned at the KPK headquarters. According to the Corruption Eradication Law, the KPK has one day to determine Rudi’s legal status.
SKK Migas spokesman Agus Budiyanto confirmed Rudi’s arrest, saying the agency was waiting for KPK’s next move before issuing a statement.
Rudi was installed as SKK Migas chief in January this year. He was previously deputy energy and mineral resources minister. He was considered to have gained the President’s trust due to being a capable man with in-depth knowledge of the oil and mineral industry.(dic
