The Aspen "plant" is actually just a software. They call it a 'Steady State Process Simulation Package'. My assumption is that it is only as good as the data (experimental) you put in it. Its a kind of process modelling software, meaning that from experimental data and results such as leach times, quantities & % of materials, processing conditions, sequencing etc, you can develop a very accurate 'process model' to describe what would happen if built on a full scale model. The software i asume would also provide p&i diagrams (process & instrumentation) diagrams. The software would probably be capable of also analysing non-linear relationships between variables & interaction between 2 or more variables.
