1.The ban on short selling has been lifted so there are people shorting the stock again.if they want to drop the sp all the way down to 30cents let them we can all get some more shares cheaply.
2.MDLs gold production is hedged hence not really dependant of the spot gold price.In fact if you read the last para of page 3 on latest ann they may expect to incur significant non-cash losses if the gold price continues to climb.
3.the current trading pattern is quite different to the last 2-3 weeks with the sell side stacked with orders out of the money.
