The Songa rigs dont suffer any more down time than any other rigs of their generation in Australian waters. Both rigs are of 1970's vintage and have undergone at least one major refurbishment. Of the two Songa rigs the Venus would be my choice....it's in better shape mechanically, it has more deck space and it has better accomodation.
Note also that when rigs first arrive in Australian waters theyre often not in great shape and it takes a few wells to get the local crews up to speed, sort out issues with Australian regulatory authorities and generally catch up on maintenance that may have been neglected in the last country the rig was working in.
