Oh my goodness! That sculpture!We were not allowed to call it a statue. When I saw it years ago it was on or near Spaghetti Street ,one of those bleak new roads running off Palestine Road into the desert in Jeddah. Could it be a twin or another finger that Doolally Dali tossed off ?(used to be a mad Spaniard that sold his ironmongery & rocks to Mayor Farsi).It had to be removed
because of delicate sensibilities - a bit like the burghers of Lewis (?) who were outraged by "The Thinker".
But the "thumb"gave every khawajja a good chuckle whenever
they passed it in the heat & dust on the way to work.Better watch out or the" Committee for the Preservation of Virtue & the Elimination of Vice" will be knocking on your door.
