Edge learning will be the biggest benefit to these technologies.
An example:
Using the hololens as a tool to guide a mechanic through the process of replacing a specific part in the engine bay. This system would need to be trained to recognise parts on the motor to be removed etc. This would need to be developed external to a garage to train it to recognise all the pieces.
Having edge learning on the device would open up the possibility of creating these experiences on the fly. You would be able to go through the process of installing the part, teaching the system to recognise the different components as you went.
Instead of an interactive guide being a large task developed in a studio, it could be created dynamically on the workshop floor, by a mechanic.
Edge learning could unlock this capabiity
