OPINION: CSG drama continues, can't we get on with things?

WHEN I first heard that Metgasco's talks with the government had broken down and they wanted to resume drilling for CSG, I said out loud: "Here we go again".
Someone needs to end this game of brinkmanship and bring this dispute to a resolution.
The government and Metgasco both claim they have acted in good faith and remain open to negotiations.
My advice to both parties is stop the game playing and get back to the table and do a deal.

It's been six months since the Baird Government was returned to office and it is time to make good on the promise of licence buybacks.
CSG was THE issue responsible for the huge swings against sitting members on the Northern Rivers. It suggests that no member should get too comfortable and think this is going to go away.
Whether you are for or against CSG on the Northern Rivers, I think everyone would agree we wouldn't want a repeat of what went on at Bentley.
We were on the eve of having hundreds of police sent north to break up protest picket lines to allow drilling to take place.
It was, and remains, a divisive issue and one the community wants to move on from while learning lessons from the past.
So memo to the power brokers in the halls of state parliament in Sydney: do the deal with Metgasco and let's get on with things.
Summer is nearly here and, dare I say it, we've got sharks as the major problem to deal with right now.
Talk is cheap unless it is backed up with actions. That's what is expected on CSG.
